|In order to fully understand the status and dynamics of urban wetland in Beijing, The spatial pattern of urban wetland and its change within the 6th ring road was analyzed using high resolution remotely sensed data and GIS technology. It is shown the river wetlands and reservoir wetlands were the main wetland types within the 6th ring road of Beijing. The urban wetlands decreased by 126.58 hm2 from year 2016 to 2018, which were mainly converted into grassland and a small amount into construction land and woodland. Due to the high intensity development and construction in the urban fringe, the phenomenon of wetland being encroached was relatively obvious between the 5th to the 6th ring road, while the wetland area change slightly within the 4th ring road. From 2016 to 2018, the wetland patches in Beijing became larger in number and smaller in mean patch size, indicated that wetland patches became more fragmented. In addition, the decreased mean patch size and increased patch density and landscape shape index from the 2nd to the 6th ring road suggested that the wetland patches in urban fringe were more fragmented and had more complex shape.
